The one chair your child needs

(sponsored) One of the first things I got for Oskar (and we’re talking before he was even born) was the iconic Tripp Trapp chair by Stokke. I think most of us – and especially Scandinavians – have come across the Tripp Trapp chair at some point in our childhood, myself included. When becoming a mother (or father) you need lots of stuff for the baby and trust me, it’s a jungle out there. The only thing I had already decided on was the Tripp Trapp chair as I clearly remember it from my own childhood.

The chair was designed in 1972 and this year Stokke can celebrate its 10 millionth Tripp Trapp chair! To celebrate the milestone Stokke has released two limited edition Tripp Trapp chairs – and you better hurry. Each chair is numbered and there’s only 2000 of each colour available. Both chairs are made in oak (black and white) and have been decorated with metal details and an engraved signature by the designer himself, Peter Opsvik. I love the exclusive and modern look of the anniversary chair and got the matte white oak for Oskar.

When he was just a baby we used the chair with the newborn set so that he could join us at dinner, and it was so nice to have him at the table. At around 6 months old he was strong enough to sit by himself and we changed the newborn for the baby set. Today Oskar is 2 years old and he happily climbs up the chair all by himself when having dinner. We also use the chair in the kitchen as Oskar loves to help with the cooking, and this is where the footplate comes in really handy. When standing at it he can help us in the kitchen, or even wash his hands (parents will understand). Can something as simple as a chair make a child more independent? I believe this one can.
